What started as a small idea has grown into something truly special. The Double Take Pop-Up Market is a community-focused event hosted by YSM's Double Take Thrift Store at 310 Gerrard Street East, designed to showcase Toronto's vibrant local talent from artists and makers to small business owners. Each market provides a welcoming space for vendors who are new to in-person markets, offering a supportive, inclusive, and high-energy environment where creatives can connect with customers directly, build confidence, and grow their brands.
Our mission is to build a community that empowers individuals to pursue their passion for creativity and entrepreneurship while raising awareness about the importance of supporting local talent and small businesses. Our vision is to establish the Double Take Pop-Up Market as a must-visit event in Toronto — combining shopping, connection, and inspiration in one space.
Month by month, with consistency and the support of our community, these small pop-ups grew into something bigger. This September, during the Cabbagetown Festival Weekend, we saw that vision come to life with our biggest pop-up market yet — and it was nothing short of magical.
A Market Full of Energy and Heart
With 30+ vendors, live music, a silent auction, $1 bins, and our always-popular clothing swap, the day was buzzing with energy. Customers didn’t just come to shop; many even jumped in to help during the clothing swap, proving once again how strong and generous this community is.
Our volunteers were unstoppable, keeping the day running smoothly with joy and excitement. Their energy was contagious, from greeting guests to helping vendors set up, they were the heartbeat of the market.
A Win for Vendors, Shoppers, and Sustainability
We were thrilled to see so many vendors excited about the exposure and marketing support they received through the event. Hearing that their businesses grew as a result of being part of our pop-up is exactly why we started this journey.
On top of that, we were overjoyed to make sales from our upcycled collections, proving that sustainability and creativity can go hand in hand. And of course, the clothing swap was a massive success, with shoppers walking away with fresh finds while helping keep textiles out of landfills.
